Ingredients

  • 0.25 Cups (cup) butter
  • 1 Medium onion, minced
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) salt
  • 1 Pinch black pepper, to taste
  • 0.5 Teaspoons (tsp) dried basil
  • 4 Teaspoons (tsp) brown sugar
  • 5 Whole tomatoes, sliced
  • 2 Cups (cup) white bread cubes

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, sauté the butter and onion until the onion is translucent, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  3. Add salt, black pepper, basil, brown sugar, and sliced tomatoes to the saucepan; mix well.
  4. Stir in the bread cubes until well combined with the tomato mixture.
  5. Pour the tomato-bread mixture into the prepared casserole dish.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes.
  7. Serve warm and enjoy!
