Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • 2 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 Cup sour cream
  • 0.25 Cup onion, minced
  • 1 Teaspoon salt
  • 1 Teaspoon sugar
  • 3 14.5 Ounces cans French-style green beans, drained
  • 2 Cups Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 0.5 Cup buttery round crackers, crumbled
  • 1 Tablespoon butter, melted

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Stir in the flour until smooth and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Add the sour cream, minced onion, salt, and sugar to the skillet. Stir until well combined.
  4. Add the drained green beans to the skillet and stir to coat them evenly with the sauce.
  5. Transfer the green bean mixture to a 2 ½-quart casserole dish.
  6. Spread the shredded Cheddar cheese evenly over the green bean mixture.
  7. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter and crumbled crackers. Sprinkle this mixture over the cheese layer.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
