Serving Size: 6

Cooking Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 3 Cups (c) water
  • 0.5 Teaspoons (tsp) salt
  • 8 Ounces (oz) seashell pasta
  • 1 Cup (c) whole milk
  • 4 Cups (c) Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 Cup (c) Parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 0.25 Teaspoons (tsp) black pepper, ground
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) Dijon mustard (optional)

Steps

  1. In a medium pot, combine the water and salt, and bring to a rolling boil over high heat.
  2. Add the seashell pasta to the boiling water. Stir occasionally and cook uncovered until the water has reduced slightly, about 5 minutes.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium and stir in the whole milk. Continue to cook for another 5 minutes, allowing the pasta to absorb the milk.
  4. Gradually add the shredded Cheddar and Parmesan cheeses, stirring continuously until the cheeses have melted and the sauce becomes thick and creamy.
  5. Season with ground black pepper and stir in the Dijon mustard, if using, to enhance the flavor profile.
  6. Serve immediately for a creamy, cheesy delight. For a crispy topping, transfer the macaroni to an oven-safe dish, sprinkle with buttered breadcrumbs, and bake at 350°F for 30 minutes until golden brown.
