Ingredients

  • 0.33 Cup packed light brown sugar
  • 0.33 Cup white sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) all-purpose flour
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) lemon juice
  • 0.33 Teaspoon (tsp) cinnamon, ground
  • 7.5 Cups apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 Cup raisins
  • 1 Recipe pastry for a 9-inch double crust pie
  • 1 Whole egg

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Lightly spray a deep dish pie plate with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the white sugar, light brown sugar, flour, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Mix well.
  3. Add the sliced apples and raisins to the sugar mixture, stirring until the fruit is well coated.
  4. Spoon the apple mixture into the prepared pie crust. Place the second pie crust on top of the filling and trim the edges.
  5. Lightly glaze the top of the pie with a beaten egg, then sprinkle with a little sugar.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven until the pie is golden brown, about 35 to 40 minutes.
