Ingredients

  • 1 Small red onion, minced
  • 16 Ounces (oz) package small pasta shells
  • 1 Pinch garlic salt, to taste
  • 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) unsalted butter
  • 0.25 Cups brown sugar
  • 3 11 Ounces (oz) cans condensed cream of Cheddar cheese soup
  • 0.67 Cups Havarti cheese, shredded
  • 0.25 Cups Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1.33 Cups Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 Pinch salt, to taste
  • 1 Pinch ground black pepper, to taste

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a large pot, bring lightly salted water to a boil. Add the minced onion and pasta shells, cooking until the pasta is al dente, about 8 to 10 minutes. Drain and transfer the mixture to a large casserole dish.
  3. Season the pasta and onions with salt, pepper, and garlic salt.
  4. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar and stir until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is smooth. Pour this over the pasta mixture and stir to combine.
  5. Add the condensed cream of Cheddar cheese soup, shredded Havarti cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, and 0.33 cups of the shredded Cheddar cheese to the pasta. Stir until well combined.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining Cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the dish.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the top is lightly golden.
  8. Switch the oven setting to 'Broil' and cook for an additional 4 minutes, or until the top is a deep golden brown.
