Ingredients
- 2 Pounds (lb) boneless lamb shoulder, sliced
- 0.5 Teaspoons (tsp) garam masala
- 1 Pinch salt, to taste
- 2 Tablespoons (tbsp) butter, divided
- 1 Whole onion, minced
- 0.5 Teaspoons (tsp) ground turmeric
- 0.5 Teaspoons (tsp) ginger, minced
- 0.5 Teaspoons (tsp) garlic, minced
- 0.5 Teaspoons (tsp) cayenne pepper
- 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) tomato paste
- 1 Cup water
- 0.5 Cup heavy cream
- 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) honey
- 1 Cup fresh cilantro, torn
Steps
- Season the lamb pieces with garam masala and a pinch of salt. Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the lamb cubes and fry until browned, stirring constantly. Remove the lamb from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt the remaining tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the minced onion and cook, stirring, until the onion is softened and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the turmeric, minced ginger, and minced garlic. Cook and stir for 1 minute. Add the cayenne pepper and tomato paste, stirring until well blended. Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a simmer. Return the lamb to the skillet. Simmer over low heat for about 20 minutes, or until the lamb is tender.
- Stir in the heavy cream and honey. Transfer the dish to a serving platter and garnish with torn fresh cilantro.
