  • 1 Box yellow cake mix
  • 1 Cup butter, melted
  • 4 Large eggs
  • 1 15 Ounces (oz) can pumpkin puree, pureed
  • 1 12 Fluid Ounces (fl oz) can evaporated milk
  • 1 Cup sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) cinnamon, ground
  • 0.5 Teaspoon (tsp) ginger, ground
  • 0.5 Teaspoon (tsp) cloves, ground
  • 0.5 Teaspoon (tsp) salt
  • 1 Cup walnuts, chopped (optional)

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the yellow cake mix and melted butter. Reserve 1 cup of this mixture for the topping.
  3. Press the remaining mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form the crust.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, pumpkin puree, evaporated milk, sugar, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt until smooth.
  5. Pour the pumpkin mixture over the crust in the baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle the reserved cake mix mixture over the top of the pumpkin layer. If using, add chopped walnuts on top.
