Ingredients

  • 4 - 6.5 Ounces (oz) packages dry corn bread mix, packaged
  • 6 Cups dry bread crumbs, packaged
  • 1 Pound (lb) sausage, seasoned
  • 0.5 Cups margarine, melted
  • 2 Cups onion, minced
  • 4 Whole garlic cloves, minced
  • 0.33 Cups green bell pepper, minced
  • 3 Cups celery, sliced
  • 0.67 Cups fresh parsley, minced
  • 2 Tablespoons (tbsp) poultry seasoning
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) dried sage
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) salt
  • 8 Cups chicken broth
  • 2 Whole eggs, whisked

Steps

  1. Prepare the cornbread according to package instructions. Once cooled, crumble it into a large bowl and stir in the bread crumbs.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  3. In a large pot, sauté the sausage in margarine with the onion, garlic, green bell pepper, and celery until tender.
  4. Stir in the parsley, poultry seasoning, sage, and salt.
  5. Pour the broth, eggs, and cornbread/breadcrumb mixture into the pot and mix until the ingredients stick together easily.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a 9x13 inch pan.
  7. Bake covered in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
