Ingredients

  • 1 Pound (lb) ground pork sausage
  • 2 Cups celery, sliced
  • 2 Large onions, minced
  • 5 Cups cornbread, crumbled
  • 5 Cups bread crumbs, seasoned
  • 2.75 Cups chicken broth
  • 1.5 Teaspoons (tsp) poultry seasoning
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) dried sage, ground

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  2. In a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat, combine the sausage, celery, and onions. Cook, stirring often and breaking the sausage up with a spoon, until the sausage is evenly browned and crumbly and the vegetables are translucent, about 7 to 10 minutes. Remove from heat and drain.
  3. Transfer the sausage mixture to a large bowl. Add the crumbled cornbread, bread crumbs, chicken broth, poultry seasoning, and sage. Mix until well combined, then transfer to a 9x13-inch baking dish. Cover with foil.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until the stuffing is well set and cooked through, about 45 minutes.
