Ingredients

  • 13.8 Ounces (oz) package chicken flavored rice mix, packaged
  • 0.25 Tablespoons (tbsp) butter
  • 5 Cups water
  • 1 Bunch green onions, minced
  • 8 Ounces (oz) can water chestnuts, drained
  • 1 Cups celery, minced
  • 1 Cups cooked chicken breast meat, shredded
  • 0.5 Cups mayonnaise
  • 1 Dash Worcestershire sauce, seasoned
  • 1 Pinch salt, seasoned
  • 1 Pinch pepper, seasoned

Steps

  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the rice-vermicelli mix and butter. Cook and stir until the vermicelli is golden brown.
  2. Slowly stir in the water and seasoning packet from the rice mix. Bring to a boil.
  3. Cover the saucepan, reduce the heat to medium-low, and simmer until the rice is tender, about 20 to 25 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let the rice sit, covered, for 3 to 5 minutes.
  5. Transfer the cooked rice to a large serving bowl and place it in the refrigerator to chill.
  6. Once chilled, add the minced green onions, drained water chestnuts, minced celery, shredded chicken, mayonnaise, seasoned Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to the rice.
  7. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.
