  • 1 Pinch pepper, to taste
  • 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) bacon grease, melted
  • 1 Clove garlic, minced
  • 2 Tablespoons (tbsp) red onion, minced
  • 1 15.5 Ounces (oz) can black beans, drained
  • 2 Tablespoons (tbsp) water

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the diced tomato, 2 tablespoons of red onion, cilantro, and honey. Season with lime juice, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper. Set aside to let the flavors meld.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the bacon grease. Add the minced garlic and 2 tablespoons of red onion, cooking until softened and translucent, about 3 minutes.
  3. Add the drained black beans and water to the saucepan. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then simmer for 10 minutes or until heated through.
