- 2 Tablespoons (tbsp) yellow mustard
- 0.75 Tablespoons (tbsp) poppy seeds
- 0.75 Teaspoons (tsp) salt
- 1 Whole head romaine lettuce, torn
- 6 Ounces (oz) baby spinach leaves, packaged
- 0.75 Pounds (lb) mushrooms, sliced
- 0.75 Pounds (lb) Swiss cheese, shredded
- 1 Whole red onion, minced
- 1 Cup (c) mandarin oranges, drained
Steps
- In a small skillet over medium-high heat, combine the slivered almonds and 3 tablespoons of white sugar. Cook and stir until the sugar melts and coats the almonds, about 3 minutes. Spread the almonds in a single layer on waxed paper to cool.
- To prepare the salad dressing, whisk together the red wine vinegar, salad oil, 0.33 cups of white sugar, yellow mustard, poppy seeds, and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
