Ingredients

  • 1 Cup packed brown sugar, sifted
  • 0.5 Cup butter, softened
  • 0.5 Cup shortening
  • 0.25 Cup white sugar, sifted
  • 1 Whole egg
  • 2 Cups all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 Teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 Teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.25 Teaspoon salt
  • 2 Cups mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 6 Ounces (oz) package almond brickle chips, packaged
  • 1 Teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the brown sugar, white sugar, butter, and shortening until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture and blend well.
  4. Gradually stir through the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  5. Fold in the mini semi-sweet chocolate chips and almond brickle chips.
  6. Drop the dough by rounded teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 9 to 10 minutes, or until the cookies are lightly browned. Switch racks halfway through baking for even cooking.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool on the sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
