Serving Size: 6
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Ingredients
- 3 Cups (c) water
- 0.5 Teaspoons (tsp) salt
- 8 Ounces (oz) seashell pasta
- 1 Cup (c) whole milk
- 4 Cups (c) Cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 Cup (c) Parmesan cheese, shredded
- 0.25 Teaspoons (tsp) black pepper, ground
- 1 Teaspoon (tsp) Dijon mustard (optional)
Steps
- In a medium pot, combine the water and salt, and bring to a rolling boil over high heat.
- Add the seashell pasta to the boiling water. Stir occasionally and cook uncovered until the water has reduced slightly, about 5 minutes.
- Reduce the heat to medium and stir in the whole milk. Continue to cook for another 5 minutes, allowing the pasta to absorb the milk.
- Gradually add the shredded Cheddar and Parmesan cheeses, stirring continuously until the cheeses have melted and the sauce becomes thick and creamy.
- Season with ground black pepper and stir in the Dijon mustard, if using, to enhance the flavor profile.
- Serve immediately for a creamy, cheesy delight. For a crispy topping, transfer the macaroni to an oven-safe dish, sprinkle with buttered breadcrumbs, and bake at 350°F for 30 minutes until golden brown.
