Serving Size: 9
Cooking Time: 55 minutes
Ingredients
- 2 Tablespoons (tbsp) butter
- 0.5 Cups celery, minced
- 12 Ounces (oz) chicken breast, shredded
- 0.67 Cups hot pepper sauce
- 1 Cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 Pinch salt, to taste
- 1 Pinch pepper, to taste
- 16 Ounces (oz) wonton wrappers, packaged
- 1 Quart oil
Steps
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced celery and cook until slightly soft, about 5 minutes. Transfer the celery to a large mixing bowl.
- Add the shredded chicken, hot pepper sauce, and Cheddar cheese to the bowl with the celery. Mix thoroughly until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Lay the wonton wrappers on a clean work surface. Place about 1 tablespoon of the chicken mixture in the center of each wrapper. Lightly moisten the edges of the wrappers with water using your finger or a pastry brush.
- Fold one corner of the wrapper over the filling to the opposite corner, forming a triangle. Press the edges together firmly to seal.
- Heat the oil in a deep-fryer or deep pan to 365 degrees F (185 degrees C). Carefully add several wontons at a time, frying until they are golden brown, turning as needed.
- Remove the wontons from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot, optionally with a side of blue cheese dressing for dipping.
