Ingredients

  • Spray cooking spray
  • 0.5 Cups white sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon cinnamon, ground
  • 2 7.5 Ounces packages brown sugar and cinnamon spreadable cream cheese, softened
  • 1 Large egg
  • 2 Teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 Teaspoon orange zest, zested (optional)
  • 2 8 Ounces packages refrigerated crescent sheets
  • 0.25 Cups salted butter, melted
  • 2 Tablespoons cajeta, warmed (optional)

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly coat a 13x9-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the white sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle half of the sugar mixture evenly in the bottom of the prepared pan.
  3. Place one crescent sheet in the pan, trimming to fit as needed.
  4. In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese, egg, vanilla, and orange zest (if using) with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth.
  5. Spread the cream cheese filling evenly over the crescent crust in the pan.
  6. Gently lay the remaining crescent sheet over the filling.
  7. Pour the melted butter over the top crescent sheet.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining sugar mixture evenly over the top.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 30 minutes.
  10. Cool slightly, then cut into bars. Serve warm or chill and serve within 24 hours. If desired, drizzle with cajeta just before serving.
