Ingredients

  • 1 Cup raisins
  • 1.5 Cups orange liqueur
  • 0.5 Cup unsalted butter
  • 2 Cups celery, minced
  • 1 Large onion, minced
  • 1 Pound spicy Italian sausage, casing removed
  • 16 Ounces (oz) package herb-seasoned dry bread stuffing mix, packaged
  • 1 Cup pecans, chopped
  • 4 Whole Granny Smith apples, peeled
  • 0.5 Cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 Cups chicken broth
  • 4 Teaspoons fresh sage, minced
  • 1 Pinch salt, to taste
  • 1 Pinch pepper, to taste

Steps

  1. Place raisins in a small saucepan and cover with 1 cup of orange liqueur. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, melt 0.5 cup of butter over medium heat. Sauté the celery and onion in the butter for 10 minutes, then transfer to a large mixing bowl.
  3. In the same skillet, cook the sausage over medium-high heat until crumbled and evenly browned. Drain the excess fat.
  4. Combine the cooked sausage and stuffing mix with the celery and onion mixture in the mixing bowl.
  5. Stir in the raisins and liqueur, pecans, and apples.
  6. Mix in the melted butter, chicken broth, and remaining 0.5 cup of orange liqueur until the stuffing is completely moistened.
  7. Season with fresh sage, salt, and pepper to taste.
  8. Use the stuffing to fill your turkey or bake separately as desired. Enjoy your flavorful and aromatic stuffing!
