- 2 Pounds (lb) beef, ground
- 1 Medium onion, minced
- 3 Whole garlic cloves, minced
- 2 14.5 Ounces (oz) cans diced tomatoes with green chile peppers
- 1 15 Ounces (oz) can kidney beans, drained
- 1 15 Ounces (oz) can pinto beans, drained
- 1 14.5 Ounces (oz) can diced tomatoes
- 1 8 Ounces (oz) can tomato sauce
- 1 Cup water
- 2 Tablespoons (tbsp) chili powder
- 2 Tablespoons (tbsp) sugar, white
- 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) hot pepper sauce
- 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) cumin, ground
- 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) salt
- 1 Teaspoon (tsp) black pepper, ground
Steps
- Heat a large stockpot over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, stirring until browned and crumbly, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and discard the grease.
- Add the minced onion and minced garlic to the beef. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 3 to 4 minutes.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes with green chile peppers, kidney beans, pinto beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, chili powder, sugar, hot pepper sauce, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 30 minutes.
