Cooking Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 Clove garlic, minced
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) cornstarch
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) vegetable oil
  • 0.25 Teaspoon (tsp) black pepper, ground
  • 1 Pound (lb) sirloin tips, sliced
  • 3 Tablespoons (tbsp) vegetable oil, divided
  • 0.5 Onion, sliced
  • 2 Cups fresh green beans, torn
  • 0.25 Cup chicken broth
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) soy sauce

Steps

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the minced garlic, cornstarch, 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil, and ground black pepper. Add the thinly sliced sirloin tips and mix well to coat the beef evenly.
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a wok over high heat for 1 minute. Add the sirloin mixture and stir-fry until the beef begins to brown, about 2 minutes. Transfer the beef to a large bowl and set aside.
  3. In the same wok, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the sliced onion and stir-fry until tender. Mix in the green beans, then pour in the chicken broth. Cover the wok, reduce the heat to medium, and simmer until the green beans are tender-crisp, about 4 to 5 minutes.
  4. Return the beef to the wok and add the soy sauce. Stir-fry everything together until heated through, about 1 to 2 minutes. Serve hot over rice.
