Ingredients

  • 16 Ounces (oz) package small seashell pasta, packaged
  • 1 Cup mayonnaise
  • 0.25 Cup distilled white vinegar
  • 0.67 Cup white sugar
  • 2.5 Tablespoons (tbsp) prepared yellow mustard
  • 1.5 Teaspoons (tsp) salt
  • 0.5 Teaspoon (tsp) black pepper, ground
  • 1 Large Vidalia onion, minced
  • 2 Stalks celery, minced
  • 1 Whole green bell pepper, minced
  • 0.25 Cup carrots, grated
  • 1 Pound (lb) cooked ham, diced

Steps

  1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook until al dente, about 8 to 10 minutes. Drain the pasta, but do not rinse. Let it stand for 5 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, prepare the dressing by combining mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar, mustard, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the minced onion, celery, bell pepper, grated carrots, and diced ham.
  4. Stir in the prepared dressing with the vegetable and ham mixture.
  5. Add the cooked pasta to the bowl and toss gently to blend all ingredients.
  6. Chill the salad for at least 4 hours before serving to allow the flavors to develop.
