Ingredients
- 1 Pound (lb) lean ground beef
- 1 Medium onion, minced
- 1 Medium green bell pepper, minced
- 1 Teaspoon (tsp) Italian seasoning
- 1 Pinch salt, to taste
- 1 Pinch pepper, to taste
- 2 6 Ounces (oz) cans tomato paste
- 2.25 Cups water
- 1 Pint (pt) part-skim ricotta cheese
- 1 Whole egg, whisked
- 2 Cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 8 Lasagne noodles, drained
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef with the minced onions and bell peppers in a skillet. Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to taste.
- Add the tomato paste and water to the skillet. Let the mixture simmer.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese with the whisked egg. Set aside.
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Butter a 9 x 13 inch baking dish.
- Begin layering the ingredients in the baking dish: start with a few spoonfuls of the tomato sauce, followed by a layer of lasagne noodles, then the ricotta mixture, and a layer of shredded mozzarella. Repeat the layers until the dish is filled.
- Bake the lasagna in the preheated oven for about 35 to 45 minutes, until bubbly.
