- 0.5 Medium onion, minced
- 0.25 Medium green bell pepper, minced
- 0.5 Teaspoon (tsp) fresh thyme, minced
- 0.5 Cup tomato sauce
- 1 Teaspoon (tsp) browning sauce
- 1 Teaspoon (tsp) salt
- 0.5 Teaspoon (tsp) black pepper, ground
- 1 Pinch red pepper flakes
- 2 14 Ounces (oz) whole kernel corn, drained
- 3.5 Cups water
- 2 Cups white rice
Steps
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced bacon and cook until the fat begins to render, stirring occasionally.
- Add the minced onion, bell pepper, and thyme to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion becomes nearly translucent.
- Reduce the heat to medium-low and stir in the tomato sauce, browning sauce, salt, ground black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Let it simmer for 3 minutes to meld the flavors.
- Add the drained corn to the skillet and continue to simmer for an additional 3 minutes.
