- 0.5 Teaspoon (tsp) salt
- 1 Cup (c) hominy grits
- 0.5 Cup (c) sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) butter
- 1 Pinch black pepper, ground
Steps
- Bring 3 cups of water and 0.5 teaspoon of salt to a boil in a saucepan.
- Whisk in 1 cup of hominy grits and continue to whisk for 1 minute.
- Once the mixture comes to a boil again, reduce the heat to low. Stir frequently and cook for 10 to 15 minutes until the grits are tender.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and add 0.5 cup of sharp Cheddar cheese, 1 tablespoon of butter, and 1 pinch of black pepper.
- Stir until the butter and cheese are completely melted and the grits are creamy.
