Serving Size: 6

Cooking Time: 55 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 Whole bratwurst
  • 36 Fluid Ounces (fl oz) light beer
  • 5 Tablespoons (tbsp) brown sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) cayenne pepper
  • 6 Slices bacon, divided

Steps

  1. Poke the bratwurst several times with a small fork to allow flavors to penetrate. Place them into a saucepan and pour in the beer. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove the bratwurst from the beer and let them cool to room temperature.
  2. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top to allow for even cooking and crisping.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the brown sugar and cayenne pepper. Mix well and set aside.
  4. Once cooled, cut each bratwurst into thirds. Wrap each piece with a half strip of bacon and secure it with a toothpick. Toss the bacon-wrapped bratwurst pieces in the brown sugar and cayenne mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.
  5. Arrange the coated bratwurst pieces on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 35 minutes, or until the bacon is brown and crisp.
  6. Serve warm and enjoy the sweet, smoky, and spicy flavors of these irresistible bites!
