Ingredients

  • 1.75 Cups white sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons (tbsp) brown sugar
  • 0.25 Cups Hungarian sweet paprika
  • 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) black pepper, ground
  • 1.5 Teaspoons (tsp) garlic powder
  • 0.5 Cups salt
  • 2.5 Teaspoons (tsp) chili powder
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) cayenne pepper

Steps

  1. Stir together white sugar, brown sugar, paprika, black pepper, garlic powder, salt, chili powder, and cayenne pepper until well blended.
  2. Store the mixture in an airtight container until ready to use.
  3. To use the rub, remove the membrane on the back of the ribs.
  4. Generously rub both sides of the ribs with the mixture.
  5. Wrap the ribs with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  6. Cook the ribs slowly over indirect heat for 2 hours.
  7. During the last 20 minutes of cooking, baste the ribs with your favorite barbecue sauce.
