Serving Size: 8
Cooking Time: 90 minutes
Ingredients
- 16 Ounces (oz) broad egg noodles, packaged
- 4 Large eggs
- 0.25 Cup butter, melted
- 1 Cup brown sugar
- 1 Pinch salt, to taste
- 0.5 Cup pecans, minced
Steps
- Fill a large pot with lightly salted water and bring to a rolling boil over high heat. Add the egg noodles and return to a boil. Cook the noodles uncovered, stirring occasionally, until al dente, about 5 minutes. Drain well in a colander.
- Preheat your oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
- In a large bowl, beat the eggs until well combined. Gradually beat in half of the melted butter, then stir in half of the brown sugar and a pinch of salt. Add the drained noodles to the egg mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated.
- Grease the bottom of a deep baking dish with the remaining melted butter. Sprinkle the remaining brown sugar evenly across the bottom and up the sides of the dish. Distribute the minced pecans over the brown sugar layer.
- Pour the noodle mixture over the pecans and brown sugar in the baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until the kugel is firm and golden brown on top.
- Once baked, run a paring knife around the edges of the kugel to loosen it. Carefully invert the baking dish onto a large platter to release the kugel, allowing the caramelized pecan topping to be on top.
- Serve warm and enjoy the sweet, nutty flavors of this delicious kugel!
