  • 1 Pound (lb) ground beef
  • 14.5 Ounces (oz) can Italian-style stewed tomatoes
  • 15 Ounces (oz) light red kidney beans, drained
  • 1 Medium onion, minced
  • 1 Clove garlic, minced
  • 8 Ounces (oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1.5 Fluid Ounces (fl oz) tequila
  • 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) chili powder
  • 1.5 Teaspoons (tsp) cumin, ground
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) salt
  • 0.5 Teaspoon (tsp) cayenne pepper

Steps

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Stir in the Italian-style stewed tomatoes, drained kidney beans, minced onion, minced garlic, and tomato sauce.
  3. Add the tequila, chili powder, ground cumin, salt, and cayenne pepper to the pot.
  4. Mix all ingredients well and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  5. Allow the chili to simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the flavors meld together.
