Ingredients

  • 0.5 Cups (cup) butter
  • 1.5 Cups (cup) white sugar
  • 2 Whole eggs
  • 1 Cup (cup) sour cream
  • 1 Teaspoon (tsp) vanilla extract
  • 2.75 Cups (cup) all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 Teaspoon (tsp) baking powder
  • 0.5 Teaspoon (tsp) salt
  • 0.5 Teaspoon (tsp) baking soda
  • 1 Cup (cup) shortening
  • 0.25 Cup (cup) milk
  • 2 Whole egg whites
  • 0.25 Cup (cup) all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 2 Teaspoons (tsp) vanilla extract
  • 1 Pound (lb) confectioners' sugar

Steps

  1. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar. Stir in the eggs and vanilla, then the sour cream.
  2. Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda, then stir into the creamed mixture. Cover and chill for at least 1 hour.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  4. Drop cookies by heaping teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheets.
  5. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven. Remove from baking sheets to cool on wire racks.
  6. To make the icing, combine the shortening, milk, egg whites, 0.25 cups of flour, vanilla, and confectioners' sugar in a medium bowl.
  7. Mix on high speed with an electric mixer until fluffy. The longer you mix, the fluffier it will be.
  8. Frost the flat side of the cookies with icing once they are cool.
