Serving Size: 6
Cooking Time: 35 minutes
Ingredients
- 1.5 Cups milk
- 1 0.25 Ounces (oz) envelope unflavored gelatin
- 1.5 Cups whipping cream
- 0.25 Cups white sugar
- 1 Pinch white sugar, divided
- 2 Teaspoons (tsp) vanilla extract
- 1 Pinch vanilla extract, divided
- 1 Quart fresh strawberries, quartered
- 0.25 Cups water
Steps
- Pour the milk into a bowl and sprinkle the gelatin over the top. Let it sit until the gelatin softens, about 5 minutes.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the whipping cream and 0.25 cups of sugar. Stir in the gelatin mixture and cook, stirring until the gelatin dissolves completely, about 3 minutes. Add 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.
- Divide the mixture among 6 ramekins. Cover and chill for at least 4 hours.
- In another saucepan over medium heat, combine the strawberries, remaining 0.25 cups of sugar, water, and remaining 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Crush the strawberries with a potato masher while the sauce cooks. Simmer until the sugar has dissolved and the sauce has thickened, about 10 minutes. Allow to cool.
- Before serving, remove the chilled panna cotta from the refrigerator. Dip the bottoms of the ramekins in warm water to help loosen the custard. Run a thin-bladed knife around the inner edge of each ramekin to loosen, then turn onto a dessert plate to unmold.
- Spoon the fresh strawberry sauce over the panna cotta and serve. Enjoy your elegant dessert!
