Pour the milk into a large bowl; sprinkle the yeast over the surface. Let it rest for 5 minutes. Beat in the sugar, ½ cup softened butter, eggs, and salt; mix well. Gradually stir in the flour until a soft dough forms. Cover the bowl; place in a warm spot until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
