    Pour the milk into a large bowl; sprinkle the yeast over the surface. Let it rest for 5 minutes. Beat in the sugar, ½ cup softened butter, eggs, and salt; mix well. Gradually stir in the flour until a soft dough forms. Cover the bowl; place in a warm spot until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

    Punch down the dough, cover the bowl, and let it rise again. Repeat this process two more times.

    Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Break off 2- to 3-inch pieces of dough, gently shape into rounds; arrange in the prepared dish with the edges touching. Continue until you have 36 dough balls. Cover and let rise until doubled in size.
