Crumble the compressed yeast into a small bowl and mix in 2 teaspoons of sugar; set aside. In a small saucepan, heat the milk until a skin forms on top, then remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- 2
Put 1 cup of butter and the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar in a large bowl. Pour the hot milk over them and stir until the butter melts. Let the mixture cool to just above body temperature. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each, then stir in the yeast mixture. Add 3 cups of flour and mix until well blended. Gradually add the remaining flour, mixing as well as you can; the dough will be sticky. Cover the bowl with a towel and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- 3
After the dough has risen, punch it down, cover, and refrigerate overnight.
- 4
Divide the dough into four pieces. Work with one piece at a time, keeping the rest in the refrigerator. On a lightly floured surface, roll the piece into a 12 inch circle. Spread about 2 tablespoons of butter over the surface. Cut into 8 wedges, like a pizza. Roll each wedge from the wide end to the point. Place on a lightly greased cookie sheet and bend the ends to form crescents. Cover with a towel and let rise in a warm place until doubled; this will take about 2 hours because the dough is cold.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until golden.

How easyChef Pro scores recipes and products
easyChef Pro analyzes up to 41 nutrients using data sourced from USDA and other verified food databases. Its scoring method uses the nutrients relevant to nutrition quality, calorie density, processing level, and your selected health goal. Recipes and food products get a health score from 0 to 100, calculated using consistent rules instead of being estimated by AI. The same nutrition data, serving size and health goal will produce the same result.
The calculation evaluates nutrients, calorie density, processing level, and how well the food supports your selected health goal. Protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals and other beneficial nutrients can strengthen the score. High amounts of sodium, saturated fat, added sugar and other nutrients may lower it.
Your health goal also matters. easyChef Pro evaluates recipes and products across six health areas and adjusts their importance for your selected goal. This means the same food may be a better fit for one health goal than another.
For recipes, changing an ingredient, quantity or serving size changes the nutrition and may change the score. Remix the recipe in easyChef Pro to calculate fresh nutrition and scores for the version you actually make. Product scores are based on the nutrition and serving information associated with that specific product.
