Pour 1/2 cup milk into a cup or small bowl. Stir in the sugar and sprinkle the yeast over the surface. Let stand until foamy, about 10 minutes. Add the remaining milk to a large bowl.
- 2
Add the melted butter, egg, salt, and 1 cup of flour to the large bowl with the milk. Stir in the yeast mixture. Add flour 1 cup at a time until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl and no longer sticks to your hands. Cover the bowl loosely and place in a warm spot to rise for about 1 hour. The dough should nearly triple in volume.
- 3
While the dough rises, melt the remaining butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the cabbage and cook, stirring often, until it wilts. Stir in the eggs and season with salt and pepper. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender. Set aside for the filling.
- 4
Turn the risen dough out onto a floured surface and gently shape it into a long rope about 2 inches wide. Cut into 1-inch pieces and roll each piece into a ball. Flatten each ball by hand until 4 to 5 inches across. Place a spoonful of the cabbage filling in the center, fold in half to enclose, and pinch the edges to seal the filling inside.
- 5
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line one or two baking sheets with aluminum foil. Arrange the pirozhki on the baking sheet, leaving space between them to expand.
- 6
Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.

How easyChef Pro scores recipes and products
easyChef Pro analyzes up to 41 nutrients using data sourced from USDA and other verified food databases. Its scoring method uses the nutrients relevant to nutrition quality, calorie density, processing level, and your selected health goal. Recipes and food products get a health score from 0 to 100, calculated using consistent rules instead of being estimated by AI. The same nutrition data, serving size and health goal will produce the same result.
The calculation evaluates nutrients, calorie density, processing level, and how well the food supports your selected health goal. Protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals and other beneficial nutrients can strengthen the score. High amounts of sodium, saturated fat, added sugar and other nutrients may lower it.
Your health goal also matters. easyChef Pro evaluates recipes and products across six health areas and adjusts their importance for your selected goal. This means the same food may be a better fit for one health goal than another.
For recipes, changing an ingredient, quantity or serving size changes the nutrition and may change the score. Remix the recipe in easyChef Pro to calculate fresh nutrition and scores for the version you actually make. Product scores are based on the nutrition and serving information associated with that specific product.
