Cider-Glazed Chicken Breasts
Tender chicken breasts are browned in sage-infused butter, then paired with a glossy pan sauce reduced from apple cider and apple cider vinegar. Shallots, black pepper, cayenne, and a final addition of butter balance the sauce with sweet, tangy, and gently aromatic flavors. Serve it for an easy weeknight dinner or an inviting autumn meal.

- 1
Season chicken on both sides with salt, black pepper, and cayenne and set aside.
- 2
Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat; add sage leaves and fry until crisp, 1 to 2 minutes. Remove and reserve.
- 3
Add chicken breasts to the same skillet and cook until just cooked through, about 4 minutes per side. Remove to a plate and cover loosely with foil.
- 4
Add shallots to the skillet and sauté for 1 minute. Pour in cider and vinegar, and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Cook until reduced by half, which will only take a few minutes. Reduce the heat to low and place the chicken back in the skillet, along with any accumulated juices from the plate. Cook for a few minutes, turning occasionally and basting with the hot sauce until the chicken is hot. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read 165 degrees F (74 degrees C). Remove to a serving plate.
- 5
Add the remaining butter to the pan and turn off the heat. Swirl the pan until the butter emulsifies into the sauce. Taste for seasoning and serve over the chicken, garnished with fried sage.

How easyChef Pro scores recipes and products
easyChef Pro analyzes up to 41 nutrients using data sourced from USDA and other verified food databases. Its scoring method uses the nutrients relevant to nutrition quality, calorie density, processing level, and your selected health goal. Recipes and food products get a health score from 0 to 100, calculated using consistent rules instead of being estimated by AI. The same nutrition data, serving size and health goal will produce the same result.
The calculation evaluates nutrients, calorie density, processing level, and how well the food supports your selected health goal. Protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals and other beneficial nutrients can strengthen the score. High amounts of sodium, saturated fat, added sugar and other nutrients may lower it.
Your health goal also matters. easyChef Pro evaluates recipes and products across six health areas and adjusts their importance for your selected goal. This means the same food may be a better fit for one health goal than another.
For recipes, changing an ingredient, quantity or serving size changes the nutrition and may change the score. Remix the recipe in easyChef Pro to calculate fresh nutrition and scores for the version you actually make. Product scores are based on the nutrition and serving information associated with that specific product.
