Mitzie's Classic Beef Stroganoff
  1. 1

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Crumble the ground beef into the hot skillet and season with salt and pepper. Cook and stir the beef until fully browned, 7 to 10 minutes. Drain and discard any excess grease. Transfer the beef to a bowl.

  2. 2

Melt the butter in the skillet over medium heat. Cook and stir the onion and garlic in the hot butter until softened, 3 to 5 minutes. Stir the flour into the onion mixture, then cook and stir until the flour is browned, about 1 minute. Return the beef to the skillet and stir. Pour the beef broth over the mixture in the skillet and bring it to a boil. Stir the Worcestershire sauce and mustard into the mixture.

  3. 3

Cover the skillet, reduce the heat to medium-low, and simmer the mixture until it has a gravy-like consistency, about 1 hour.

  4. 4

Stir the sour cream and cream cheese into the beef mixture to serve.
