  1. 1

Heat oil in the bottom of a pressure cooker over medium-high heat. If the cooker has an insert, remove it and cook directly in the bottom of the pot. Add the beef and the onion; cook until the beef is browned on the outside.

  2. 2

Stir in 2 cups water, the carrots, and the bouillon cubes. Close the lid and secure the pressure regulator. Heat until the mixture sizzles, then reduce the heat to medium and set a timer for 20 minutes. If you have an adjustable pressure regulator, set it to 10 pounds of pressure.

  3. 3

Meanwhile, place the potatoes in a saucepan with enough water to cover. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 10 minutes. Drain.

  4. 4

Let the pressure release naturally according to the manufacturer's instructions, 5 to 10 minutes. Mine must sit under cold running water for 5 minutes until the lid can be released.

  5. 5

Remove the lid and place the pot over medium heat. Bring to a boil. Stir the cornstarch into a small amount of cold water in a small bowl to make a slurry. Stir the slurry into the stew; cook until thickened, 2 to 3 minutes. Add the potatoes to the stew, or place them in serving dishes and ladle the stew over them.

How easyChef Pro scores recipes and products

easyChef Pro analyzes up to 41 nutrients using data sourced from USDA and other verified food databases. Its scoring method uses the nutrients relevant to nutrition quality, calorie density, processing level, and your selected health goal. Recipes and food products get a health score from 0 to 100, calculated using consistent rules instead of being estimated by AI. The same nutrition data, serving size and health goal will produce the same result.

The calculation evaluates nutrients, calorie density, processing level, and how well the food supports your selected health goal. Protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals and other beneficial nutrients can strengthen the score. High amounts of sodium, saturated fat, added sugar and other nutrients may lower it.

Your health goal also matters. easyChef Pro evaluates recipes and products across six health areas and adjusts their importance for your selected goal. This means the same food may be a better fit for one health goal than another.

For recipes, changing an ingredient, quantity or serving size changes the nutrition and may change the score. Remix the recipe in easyChef Pro to calculate fresh nutrition and scores for the version you actually make. Product scores are based on the nutrition and serving information associated with that specific product.
