Gather all the ingredients.
- 2
For the rub: In a small bowl, mix together the salt, white sugar, brown sugar, black pepper, white pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, chili powder, paprika, and cumin.
- 3
Coat the ribs all over with the spice mixture; cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- 4
For the sauce: Stir together the apple juice, brown sugar, and barbeque sauce until well combined; set aside.
- 5
Unwrap the ribs and place them in a single layer on the smoker’s wire racks. Put the racks into the smoker, fill the smoker pan with apple, grape, pear, or cherry chips, and heat the smoker to 270 degrees F (130 degrees C). Cook the ribs for 1 hour.
- 6
Brush the ribs with sauce and continue cooking, basting with sauce every 30 to 40 minutes, until the pork is no longer pink and starts to pull back from the bones, 3 to 4 hours.
- 7
Brush the ribs with sauce one final time and remove them from the smoker. Wrap the ribs tightly in aluminum foil and let them rest until the juices reabsorb into the meat, 10 to 15 minutes.

How easyChef Pro scores recipes and products
easyChef Pro analyzes up to 41 nutrients using data sourced from USDA and other verified food databases. Its scoring method uses the nutrients relevant to nutrition quality, calorie density, processing level, and your selected health goal. Recipes and food products get a health score from 0 to 100, calculated using consistent rules instead of being estimated by AI. The same nutrition data, serving size and health goal will produce the same result.
The calculation evaluates nutrients, calorie density, processing level, and how well the food supports your selected health goal. Protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals and other beneficial nutrients can strengthen the score. High amounts of sodium, saturated fat, added sugar and other nutrients may lower it.
Your health goal also matters. easyChef Pro evaluates recipes and products across six health areas and adjusts their importance for your selected goal. This means the same food may be a better fit for one health goal than another.
For recipes, changing an ingredient, quantity or serving size changes the nutrition and may change the score. Remix the recipe in easyChef Pro to calculate fresh nutrition and scores for the version you actually make. Product scores are based on the nutrition and serving information associated with that specific product.
