  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Chop 4 bacon strips and set the remaining 4 bacon strips aside.

  2. 2

Cook the chopped bacon in a large skillet over medium heat, stirring often, until browned and crisp, 8 to 10 minutes. Set the chopped bacon aside.

  3. 3

Gently combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, beaten egg, garlic, 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper in a bowl until well mixed. Spread the meat mixture on a piece of waxed paper to form a rectangle about 10 inches square. Distribute the Cheddar cheese and the cooked chopped bacon over the meat, leaving a 1/2-inch border on all sides. Carefully lift one edge and roll the meat around the filling. Place the roll seam side down in a loaf pan.

  4. 4

Bake the meat loaf in the preheated oven until hot and starting to brown, about 30 minutes. In a bowl, mix the ketchup, brown sugar, pineapple, and 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, stirring until the brown sugar dissolves. Remove the meat loaf from the oven and lay the remaining 4 bacon strips on top, weaving them together. Spread the pineapple mixture over the woven bacon and the top of the loaf.

  5. 5

Return the meat loaf to the oven and bake until the bacon topping is crisp and the pineapple mixture forms a glaze, about 20 more minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should register 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).
