Fluffy Onion Sandwich Buns

Fluffy Onion Sandwich Buns bake up pillow-soft with a tender crumb and a mellow, toasty onion aroma throughout. 1. 1

Add the milk, water, butter, salt, sugar, onion powder, 3 tablespoons dried onion, potato flakes, flour, and yeast to the bread machine pan in that order, or follow the manufacturer’s order if it differs. Choose the Dough cycle and press Start.

  2. 2

When the cycle is finished, take the dough out of the machine and knead it on a lightly floured surface. Divide it into 8 equal portions and shape each into a ball. Lightly press the balls to 4 inches in diameter. If they spring back, let them rest for a minute before pressing again. Arrange on a baking sheet and cover loosely with a towel. Place in a draft-free spot to rise until doubled, about 40 minutes.

  3. 3

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

  4. 4

Whisk the egg white and water together in a cup. Brush this over the tops of the risen rolls and sprinkle with 1/4 cup minced onion.

  5. 5

Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, 15 to 20 minutes.

  6. 6

Let cool completely, then slice in half horizontally before using.
