Fresh Salsa I

Fresh Salsa I delivers a bright, roasty kick from oven-charred jalapeños balanced by sweet onion, a touch of sugar, and tomato richness. It blends to a restaurant-style texture that’s lively but smooth, ideal for scooping with chips or spooning over tacos, eggs, and grilled meats at gatherings or weeknight meals.

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

  2. 2

Place the jalapeno chile peppers on a medium baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until roasted. Remove from the heat and cut off the stems.

  3. 3

Put the jalapeno chile peppers, the garlic, the onion, the white sugar, the salt, the ground cumin, and the diced tomatoes with green chile peppers into a blender or food processor. Pulse for a few seconds to chop. Stir in the whole peeled tomatoes. Pulse again until you reach the desired consistency. Transfer to a medium bowl. Cover and refrigerate until serving.
