Put the split peas and carrots in a small saucepan and pour in enough water to cover them by about 2 inches. Bring to a boil, then lower to a simmer. Simmer until the peas are tender, about 30 minutes. Add more water as needed to keep the peas from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
