Baby Purée with Yellow Split Peas, Carrots, and Rice
  1. 1

Put the split peas and carrots in a small saucepan and pour in enough water to cover them by about 2 inches. Bring to a boil, then lower to a simmer. Simmer until the peas are tender, about 30 minutes. Add more water as needed to keep the peas from sticking to the bottom of the pan.

  2. 2

Stir in the rice and 2/3 cup water in the saucepan. Bring to a boil and cook until the rice is tender, about 12 minutes.

  3. 3

Take the pan off the heat and add the olive oil. Mash or puree to your preferred texture, making it smoother for younger babies or chunkier for older babies.
