Cheddar and Garlic Quick Scones

Cheddar and Garlic Quick Scones bake up tender with a gentle crumb and a rich, cheesy aroma lifted by fresh garlic. The milk glaze helps the tops turn golden and slightly crisp while the centers stay soft. Serve warm for breakfast or a cozy snack alongside soups or salads when you want something comforting and flavorful.

Cheddar and Garlic Quick Scones
  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Lightly grease a baking sheet.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, sift together the flour and salt. Using your fingertips, lightly rub in the butter until the mixture looks like coarse breadcrumbs. Stir in the cheese and the garlic. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk, reserving 1 teaspoon for glazing the scones. Gently mix just until combined.

  3. 3

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured board and knead briefly and lightly. Be careful not to overwork the dough. Press the dough into a 1 inch thick round. Cut into 8 wedges. Place on the prepared tray and brush with the reserved milk.

  4. 4

Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 20 minutes, or until light brown. Serve hot or let cool on a wire rack.
