Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir the ground beef and the minced in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly.

Add the chili sauce and the brown sugar. Rinse the chili sauce jar with water to get the remaining sauce and add it to the beef mixture. Stir, reduce the heat, and simmer. Remove from the heat.

Butter one side of 2 slices of bread. Place one slice, buttered side down, in a new skillet over medium heat. Layer with 1 slice of American cheese, a scoop of Sloppy Joe mixture, another slice of cheese, and the second slice of bread, buttered side up. Cook until the sandwich is browned on the bottom and the bottom slice of cheese is melted. Flip the sandwich and cook the other side the same way. Repeat to assemble and cook the remaining sandwiches.
