Turkey Chili with Black Beans and Chickpeas

Turkey Chili with Black Beans and Chickpeas brings a balanced, robust flavor from toasted spices, tender ground turkey, and a medley of vegetables. The mix of black beans and garbanzos adds hearty texture, while tomatoes create a rich base that thickens as it simmers. Ideal for cozy weeknights or casual game-day dinners, it’s comforting without feeling heavy.

Turkey Chili with Black Beans and Chickpeas
  1. 1

If using turkey, heat oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat, then cook and stir the ground turkey for about 10 minutes, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks, until it is no longer pink. Remove the turkey and set it aside, leaving the oil in the pan.

  2. 2

Add the onion, green peppers, and carrots to the saucepan, and cook and stir for about 10 minutes, until the onion is translucent and the vegetables are tender. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, and black pepper, then add the diced tomatoes, frozen corn, black beans, garbanzo beans, and chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a boil.

  3. 3

Transfer about 1 1/2 cups of the chili to a food processor and puree for about 1 minute until smooth. Pour the puree back into the pot to thicken the chili. Add the cooked turkey meat and return the chili to a simmer over medium-low heat.
