Chicago-Style Hot Dog

Chicago-Style Hot Dog celebrates a snappy all-beef frank tucked into a warm poppy seed bun and stacked with yellow mustard, neon relish, chopped onion, juicy tomato wedges, a crisp dill pickle spear, sport peppers, and a dusting of celery salt—never ketchup. Briny, tangy, and a little spicy, it’s a street-food classic perfect for game day, backyard cookouts, or a quick lunch.

Chicago-Style Hot Dog
  1. 1

Bring a pot of water to a boil over high heat. Lower the heat to low, add the hot dog to the water, and cook until heated through, about 5 minutes. Take the hot dog out of the water and set it aside.

  2. 2

Set a steamer basket in the pot and steam the poppy seed bun until warm, about 2 minutes.

  3. 3

Place the hot dog in the steamed bun. Add the toppings in this order: mustard, relish, onion, tomato, pickle, peppers, and celery salt. Nestle the tomato wedges between the hot dog and the top of the bun on one side. Place the pickle between the hot dog and the bottom of the bun on the other side. Do not use ketchup.
