Weeknight Chili Cavatappi
  1. 1

Bring water to a boil in a large pot; add salt. Add the cavatappi to the boiling water and cook until slightly firm, 10 to 12 minutes; drain and rinse the cavatappi.

  2. 2

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat; cook and stir the onion and garlic in the hot oil until the onion is softened and translucent, 5 to 10 minutes. Raise the heat to medium-high and stir the ground beef into the onion mixture. Cook and stir until the ground beef is browned and crumbly, 5 to 10 minutes. Drain the excess grease and return the skillet to the heat.

  3. 3

Stir the tomato sauce, chili powder, and cumin into the ground beef mixture; cook, stirring occasionally, until the tomato sauce is warmed through, about 3 minutes. Stir the cavatappi into the meat sauce until evenly coated; add the black beans and pepper. Cook and stir over medium-low heat until the flavors have blended, about 5 minutes.
