Herbed Mashed Turnip Blend

Herbed Mashed Turnip Blend brings a light, creamy texture with a gentle sweetness from turnips, enriched by olive oil and a hint of low-fat milk. Za’atar and fresh mint add aromatic, lemony-herbal notes that make each bite bright and satisfying. Serve alongside roasted meats or grilled vegetables for a balanced dinner, or as a lighter alternative to classic mashed potatoes at weeknight meals.

  1. 1

Place the turnips and broth in a large saucepan. If needed, add water to cover the vegetables. Bring to a boil; lower the heat and simmer, covered, until tender, 20 to 30 minutes.

  2. 2

Drain, then return the vegetables to the pan. Drizzle with oil. Let stand for 2 to 3 minutes.

  3. 3

Meanwhile, warm 1/3 cup milk in a small saucepan over low heat until very warm. Mash the turnips until light and fluffy. Stir in the warm milk, salt, za'atar, and pepper. Add more milk as desired. Sprinkle with fresh mint just before serving.
