    Melt the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and cook, stirring often to prevent burning, until they are softened and caramelized to a deep golden brown, 30 to 40 minutes. When finished, season with salt and pepper, then set aside to cool.

    With a sharp knife, cut each sheet of puff pastry into 9 squares, then cut each square in half diagonally to make 36 triangles. Arrange the triangles on the prepared baking sheets, and top with the caramelized onions, pears, and 1 teaspoon of blue cheese.
