  1. 1

Halve the oranges and juice them with a reamer. Use a paring knife to loosen the pith from the rind and carefully remove the insides from the orange halves; set aside the hollowed peels.

  2. 2

Strain the orange juice through a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl and add a little water if needed to reach 1 1/2 cups total juice.

  3. 3

Add the orange juice to a small saucepan and stir in the sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring often, until the sugar dissolves.

  4. 4

Meanwhile, in a separate bowl, whisk the vodka, triple sec, and gelatin together until the gelatin dissolves.

  5. 5

Pour the hot orange juice mixture into the bowl with the gelatin mixture and whisk until combined.

  6. 6

Arrange the orange peel halves on a plate or small rimmed baking sheet, side by side to keep them upright. Use foil or ramekins as needed to hold them upright during filling and when moving them to the refrigerator.

  7. 7

Carefully pour the orange mixture into each orange peel, filling each to the top. Place the oranges in the refrigerator and chill until the gelatin is firmly set, at least 3 hours.

  8. 8

Cut the oranges into wedges and serve. Keep chilled until ready to serve.
