Espresso Mascarpone Tiramisu Toast

Espresso Mascarpone Tiramisu Toast brings the creamy, coffee-kissed charm of tiramisu to a decadent slice of custardy bread. The espresso-soaked interior contrasts with a lightly sweetened Marsala mascarpone topping for a rich yet balanced bite. Serve as an elegant brunch treat, a special-occasion breakfast, or a dessert-like snack with coffee.

  1. 1

Gather the ingredients. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line a baking pan with aluminum foil.

  2. 2

Crack the egg into a baking dish. Add white sugar, espresso, and vanilla extract, then whisk to combine.

  3. 3

Place the bread slices in the dish and toss them in the mixture to saturate; let sit for 10 to 15 minutes to fully absorb.

  4. 4

Transfer the bread slices to the prepared pan and drizzle any accumulated coffee mixture over the top.

  5. 5

Bake the toast in the center of the preheated oven until the custard is set and the bread springs back slightly when touched, 20 to 25 minutes.

  6. 6

Transfer the slices to a wire rack to cool to room temperature.

  7. 7

Meanwhile, pour the wine into a saucepan, add sugar, and cook over medium heat until reduced to about 1 tablespoon.

  8. 8

Remove from the heat and let cool.

  9. 9

Place the mascarpone cheese in a bowl, add the cooled wine reduction and a very small pinch of salt, and stir with a spatula until combined.

  10. 10

Chill before piping or spreading on the cooled toast. Top with shaved chocolate.
