    Put half of the cucumber slices into a large jar. Add the garlic, dill, and peppercorns. Pack in the remaining cucumbers until the jar is tightly filled.

    In a small saucepan, bring the water, salt, and vinegar to a boil, stirring now and then, until the salt dissolves. Take off the heat and let it cool for 10 minutes. Pour the warm mixture over the cucumbers and seal the jar. Refrigerate for at least one day and up to 4 weeks.
